Zip, zoom and soar in L.A.’s extraordinary new playground for bike riders
On the wavy, asphalt track that almost looks like a modern sculpture emerging out of a grassy field, kids and adults on bicycles zoomed around, showcasing tricks and testing their endurance.
Since it opened in September, the site
— billed as L.A.’s first pump track
— has quickly become a safe haven for bicyclists to ride, connect with others and, most important, have fun.
A pump track is…

Herd of American bison grazing on Soapstone Prairie Natural Area, Fort Collins, CO. May 2019

Landscape photo. Soapstone Prairie Natural Area, a large protected space north of Fort Collins, CO. A large expanse of grassland in the foreground. Zoom in to see a herd of American bison grazing on a hillside. Behind them are more hills rising higher, and behind those are the Snowy Mountains, a short range of the Rockies, straddling the Colorado Wyoming border. Above them is a blue sky, hazy at the horizon, a lone cloud floats above the mountains. Despite the name, this is not a prairie, but r…

There is no “away”.

Four panel comic of a kid asking their parent what to du with rubbish to which they say “oh just throw it away” to which the kid throws with all their might and you can see a zoom out to Earth with the rubbish flying into space with the tile “oh wait, there is no ‘away’”.

Jesus, the full-sized high-res version looks incredible in-zoom.
Blender Eevee is amazing. It does this in like two minutes (on my amazing graphics card).
13000,12000 image? No problem. Just give me two minutes of locking the machine up completely and then.
Bang.
Incredible detail on the zoom: from a flying-saucer model that's placed 5 kilometers away from the window model up front.
So all the detail ought to be there in the print: at least in the space-ship and foreground, if not in the stock-image background.
If they'll let me upload an image more than 121Mb big?
Is that big for print? I have never dealt with print this size
It locks my machine up for two minutes to render that. I keep thinking it's crashed.
I dunno if it's using the GPU or not.

the Dr Evil reference in this post amuses me
in the movie Dr Evil at first proposes to hold the world ransom for “one! meellion! dollars!”; after one of his henchmen explains that a million dollars isn’t exactly a lot of money these days, he revises the ransom to (dramatic zoom) “a hundred? billion? dollars!” (trumpet fanfare)
